Plastic injection moulding R&D

Looking for a plastic injection moulding R&D partner to develop your part, from idea to prototype?

Cemiplast supports its clients in research and development (R&D) from the design of the plastic part, with 3D design, prototyping and material advice, working with Swiss universities of applied sciences and our expert mould makers.

Why build plastic injection moulding R&D into the design stage

Early choices (material, geometry, moulding process) determine the part’s industrial feasibility, production cost and regulatory compliance, especially in the medical and microtechnology sectors.

Involving Cemiplast, as an injection moulding subcontractor, from the design phase helps anticipate production constraints. It also limits mould iterations and secures the transition from prototype to series.

Cemiplast steps in from the initial literature search and the patentability study of the idea. Part design and prototype pre-production follow, before industrial phasing.

Our R&D expertise

Atelier Cemiplast dédié à l'injection plastique

Our R&D approach in plastic injection moulding

Cemiplast’s multidisciplinary team covers R&D, methods, production and regulatory control. This approach links design to production from the very first discussion.

The chosen set-up also takes into account future volumes, your economic requirements and regulatory constraints. For medical devices, Cemiplast also supports the development of primary packaging.

Once the prototype is approved, our industrialisation team takes over through to series production.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Cemiplast supports its clients from the initial literature search and part design, before prototype pre-production.

Yes. Cemiplast works with Swiss schools, including HE-Arc Neuchâtel and ceff in Saint-Imier, as well as preferred mould-making partners.

Yes. Material and process advice is part of Cemiplast’s R&D support, based on the project’s mechanical and regulatory constraints.

Yes. Depending on the project, Cemiplast can also carry out the initial literature search and the patentability study of the idea.

The project follows five steps: first the initial literature search, then design and prototyping. Next come industrial phasing and production, and finally packaging and validation.
